COLUMBIA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GRAND OPENING
REDDING, CA (AUGUST 10, 2017) – The Columbia Elementary School, educating students in grade Transitional Kindergarten – 4th, located to the east of the City of Redding on Old Oregon Trail, has its grand opening on Thursday, August 10th at 3 pm.
The opening will highlight two brand new buildings housing a total of sixteen classrooms. The buildings are designed with four classrooms surrounding a common ‘breakout’ room or pod which can be used for small group instruction or activities. Classrooms have been furnished with top notch technology and security. Teachers will have the option of using voice amplification system tied with their computer to the audio/visual system so sound is broadcast in the classroom. All lighting is LED and classrooms have light sensors to automatically adjust illumination at a consistent dispersion accommodating for natural light. New high efficiency HVAC systems coupled with the existing campus solar panels allow for maximum energy conservation.
With the addition of the new classrooms, older rooms will be utilized for STEM education, art, physical education, music and after-school and summer programs.
The grand opening will also showcase expanded parking lot spaces with the addition of a 63 newly paved parking spaces to the south side of the campus.
Principal Cortney Pratt and Superintendent Clay Ross will be available for tours around the campus and inside classrooms for interested parties.
